Description: Performs echocardiography and non-invasive vascular ultrasound diagnostics testing.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Delivers direct patient care and performs all diagnostic echocardiography including Doppler, 2-D, and m-mode and stress echocardiograms. Assists with TEE imaging. EKG s stress testing.2. Performs all diagnostic, non-invasive vascular ultrasound imaging and non-imaging studies including carotid duplex, venous duplex, arterial duplex, segmental blood pressure studies, arterial Doppler wave forms, pulse volume recording, thoracic outlet testing and photoplethysmography. Administers image enhancing agent as needed, start/discontinue IV access for administration. Perform bubble studies.3. Explains diagnostic procedures to patients and family, using verbal, written, and demonstrative skills.4. Maintains and cleans all non-disposable equipment used in echo/vascular area.5. Processes and files reports according to documentation standard for Cardiopulmonary Lab diagnostic studies. Maintains patient files and copy tapes, applying charges and completing log sheets according to department procedures.6. Organizes, counts, and records inventory in collaboration with other cardiopulmonary diagnostic staff. Stocks and maintains supplies.7. Participates in quality improvement activities in collaboration with the Coordinator/Director and staff.8. Adheres to dress code.9. Functions as a preceptor to orient new employees.10. Meets all departmental specific competencies.11. Adheres to medical center policies addressing infection control, safety, and personnel guidelines.12. Demonstrates knowledge of and compliance with the medical center code of conduct and applicable corporate policies and procedures.13. Maintains patient confidentiality and treats patients and families with respect and dignity.14. Perform other duties as assigned or requested. Schedule Notes:12 weeks; 40 hr/week (through week or weekend), 6:30AM-5:00PM. This position will include working one weekend of work and one weekend of call every 6-7 weeks. On call in the evening from 5P-6A every 8 days or so.Skills: JOB REQUIREMENTS:Ability to operate Echocardiography and Vascular equipment. Familiarity with PFT, EKG, and stress testing equipment required. Basic computer skills including:1. Turn your personal computer on and off.2. Recognize the four major parts of the computer.3. Identify and explain the use of the four parts of the standard keyboard.4. Recognize the mouse and understand how to use it.5. Open and close a program using Windows.6. Recognize and understand the operator panel on a printer.7. Load paper.Education: EDUCATION AND LICENSURE:Associate degree or bachelor s degree required.Registry in ARDMS or CCI, as a Cardiac Sonographer required.BLS required2 years experience required, 5 years preferred in Echo and VascularEKGTravel Experience Required.Job Category: Allied
