Position: Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical Unit

Shift: Night 3×12-Hour (18:30 – 07:00)

Job Description:

The Medical Surgical Unit is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for night shifts. This position offers opportunities for 36 or 48-hour workweek options, with any hours exceeding 48 classified as overtime. The RN will provide high-quality patient care in a dynamic environment, managing a patient ratio of 1:6.

Requirements:

• Current BCLS certification required; CPI certification preferred.
• At least 1 year of recent nursing experience in a medical-surgical setting.
• Experience with Epic charting system is required.
• Unit is open to first-time travelers.

Responsibilities:

• Utilize clinical skills to monitor and assess patients effectively.
• Participate in rapid response team activation as necessary.
• Provide care to a diverse patient population including adults and geriatrics.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes, including physical therapy and social services.

Work Schedule:

• 12-hour shifts from 18:30 to 07:00.
• Six weekend shifts required within a six-week period.
• Self-scheduling available for staffing needs.

Unit Details:

• Daily Census: 32 patients.
• Patient Ratio: 1:6 during day and night shifts, including weekends.
• Interdisciplinary Support: Involvement of various services such as respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services.
• Orientation will include training sessions lasting 24 hours.

Location: Lovelace Medical Center, City, State

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in blood product administration, central line blood draw, chest tube management, colostomy care, and wound care.
• Proficient in clinical procedures including IV management, oxygen administration, and post-hemodialysis care.
