**Job Summary:**

The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, and the alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response and through advocacy in the care of individuals and families. The RN is responsible and accountable for compliance to all standards of practice and professional development in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, policies, ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the Bill of Patient Rights. The RN promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care.

**Job Responsibilities:**

– Assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements, and evaluates nursing care in managing a group of patients, serving as a primary nurse and/or accountable nurse, when designated by unit assignment and consideration of factors related to safety, effectiveness, competency, cost, and impact.

– Educates patient and family in health promotion and disease management using available resources.

– Utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to policy.

– Shares in responsibility for productivity and effective resource utilization including staffing, time management, supplies, and services.

– Complies with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and policies.

– Actively participates in and supports the Nursing Shared Governance Model by supporting the Unit Council, participating in improvement initiatives, and contributing to peer review practices.

– Actively engages in professional development, continuing nursing education, and completing all mandatory education requirements.

– Integrates nursing research and current evidence into practice.

– Provides a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.

– Follows all organizational values.

– Performs other duties as assigned.

**Schedule Notes:**

– Night shifts; 36 hours/week, every other weekend.

**Required Certifications:**

– BLS

– ACLS

**Required Experience:**

– Cardiac Telemetry: experience with TAVR, watchmans, mitral clips, heart catheterizations, preop/post op open heart (when transferred out of CVICU), cardiac IV and PO, cardiac drips (cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, lidocaine, milrinone, heparin, insulin), anticoagulant, CHF, CP, arrhythmias, NSTEMI, STEMI, PE, post op CABG greater than 3 days, Sepsis, PNA, Stroke, observation patients.

– Ensure skills checklists are completed accurately by workers.

**Required Skills & Experience:**

– Nursing (RN) experience of six (6) months to three (3) years.

– Management experience of zero (0) to three (3) years.

– Five plus (5) years of direct experience.

– Skills in collaboration, communication (verbal & written), judgment/critical thinking, organizational understanding, planning (organizing, time management), problem solving, quality, reliability, and safety and risk management.

**Preferred Skills & Experience:**

– Clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting.

**Education:**

– **Required Education:** A graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.

– **Preferred Education:** Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.

**Required Certifications & Licensure:**

– Current RN License.

– BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).

– Unit-specific requirements are listed in the Compliance Matrix – please validate prior to candidate submission.

**Preferred Certifications & Licensure:**

– Professional certification in a related nursing specialty.

– Relevant skills certification (i.e., ACLS, PALS, TNCC) as required by home unit assigned.
