Shift: Night Nights; 40 hours/week 5×8 Hr

Description: Job Summary: Performs and is knowledgeable/efficient in polysomnographic diagnostic testing. Must have the ability to integrate a basic understanding of anatomy and physiology with sleep/wake pathology. Excellent communication skills are required for ensuring patient education, safety and comfort as well as for discussing patient and clinical situations with physicians. Attention to detail is critical since the quality of data from the polysomnogram is solely the responsibility of the technologist. The individual must be able to maintain vigilance in a non-stimulating environment. Must be able to assimilate data from several sources and anticipate initiation of care, in accordance with protocols to prevent harm to the patient. Must know when to consult the physician regarding the patient s care. Must react quickly and calmly in emergency situations and must understand and abide by patient confidentiality guidelines. Job Responsibilities: -Reviews patient information in chart and verifies order for study. -Explains set up and testing protocols to patient/caregiver answering any questions that they may have. -Sets up patient per policy/AASM guidelines. -Performs studies per policy/AASM guidelines. Closely monitors the patient for clinical and physiological events and taking appropriate actions to obtain required sleep/wake data. -Performs Titration and Split night studies in accordance with policy and/or physician orders. -Wakes patient when appropriate amount of data is obtained, and study is completed. Removes electrodes and transducers careful and the patient will be assisted with hygiene as necessary. -Scores studies in accordance with AASM scoring manual guidelines. Completes all scoring in a timely manner. -Scoring takes precedent over all other non-patient related functions (i. e. CEU, housekeeping duties). -Completes Inter Score Reliability monthly. -Notifies Medical Director, Physician Assistant and/or Clinical Manager of adverse changes in patient s condition or any unusual situations during the Sleep Study. -Assists in training of new personnel. -Will perform other duties as assigned. Preferred Skills & Experience: -Previous experience in Sleep Medicine.Education: Required Education: -Associate’s degree from an Accredited School in Polysomnography. Preferred Education: -N/A Required Certifications & Licensure: -BLS from AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross.-RPSGT Registered Polysomnographic Technologist.-New York state Registered Polysomnographic Technician OR Respiratory Therapist license.Preferred Certifications & Licensure: -NYS licensed Respiratory Therapist.Job Category: Clinical-Allied
