Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated individual to perform crucial duties within the Sterile Processing Department. Responsibilities include manual decontamination, operation of mechanical washers, assembly, packaging, sterilization, and quality inspections of surgical instruments and medical devices. The ideal candidate will follow established Infection Control and Sterile Processing policies, maintaining accurate sterilization records in the electronic instrument tracking system.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform equipment quality tests, including cleaning washer screens, spray arms, and daily washer protein tests.
- Utilize various mechanical and sterilization equipment.
- Safely retrieve and return used instruments and patient equipment to prevent cross-contamination.
- Independently conduct decontamination procedures following standard precautions.
- Document reusable medical devices upon receiving in decontamination via the instrument tracking system.
- Ensure all instruments are washed and disinfected prior to assembly and sterilization.
- Manually clean instruments using industry-approved enzymatic detergents and methods.
- Don appropriate personal protective equipment when in the decontamination area.
- Perform quality inspections on each instrument and category.
- Assemble surgical instrumentation and devices following manufacturer instructions and count sheets.
- Conduct quality inspections post-wrapping or containerization before sterilization.
- Ensure proper sterilization methods are applied, monitoring cycle functions, and testing equipment.
- Handle Ethylene Oxide (EtO) sterilization safely, maintaining compliance with all regulations.
- Perform visual inspections to check for appropriate chemical indicator changes for each sterilized item.
- Distribute sterile instruments to respective units in a safe and aseptic manner.
- Manually clean, disinfect, store, distribute, and track reusable durable medical equipment.
- Maintain inventory and storage for sterile items and respond to requests promptly.

This position offers evening rotational shifts with 12-week contracts available.
Skills and Experience
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in Sterile Processing (certified or uncertified).
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience in surgical inventory management.
Education
Required Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent.

Required Certifications
- (HSPA) Certified and Registered Central Service Technician – CRCST
- OR
- (CBSPD) Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician – CSPDT
Preferred Certifications
- Certified Instrument Specialist – CIS
- Certified Endoscope Reprocessor – CER
- Certified Ambulatory Surgery Sterile Processing Technician – CASSPT
- Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor – CFER
- Certified Surgical Instrument Specialist – CSIS
