Position Summary
The essential functions of this position include performing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) on patients using advanced technical equipment and administering contrast materials as required.
Responsibilities
- Patient Preparation (25%): Prepare the scan room and ensure the patient is ready for examination.
- Contrast Administration (25%): Draw up IV contrast when necessary, provide oral contrast as indicated, execute equipment warm-up procedures, input patient data and scan parameters, and review previous exams for accuracy and completeness.
- Patient Interaction (25%): Interview and screen patients for contraindications prior to the MRI; explain the procedure and address any questions from the patient.
- Patient Positioning (15%): Safely transport the patient to the exam room, assist in proper positioning for the MRI, check for allergies, inject appropriate IV contrast, and perform the scan with attention to detail.
- Image Orientation (10%): Ensure proper orientation marking of the patient; accurately enter images in the designated order using a keypad.
- Record Preparation: Prepare records for the radiologist, ensuring that all clinical information is complete and that images are in the correct order.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in MRI.
- Registration from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.
- Experience with Siemens MRI equipment is required.
- Willingness to work a schedule from 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM, with no weekend shifts.
