Job Opportunity
Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our interdisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will leverage their professional nursing knowledge and skills to provide exceptional care and management of patients. This position involves working night shifts, consisting of four 12-hour shifts per week, with a rotational schedule that includes weekends and holidays.
Working Conditions
- Shift: Nights – 4×12 hour shifts, 48 hours/week
- Location: Allen Hospital, Iowa
- Unit Type: Telemetry monitoring unit
- Bed Size: 25 beds
- Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to patients through the application of the nursing process.
- Manage care effectively and contribute to interdisciplinary team discussions.
- Administer and monitor the following infusions: heparin, insulin, diuretics, amiodarone, diltiazem, and 3% saline.
- Read and interpret EKG/ECG; perform all Telemetry-related duties and responsibilities.
- Float between medical-surgical units as needed, including post-operative care.
Education & Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Med Surg or Med/Tele nursing; post-operative experience is strongly encouraged.
- Experience with administering and titrating the listed infusions is required.
- Must be a current traveler with a completed assignment within the last 12 months.
Certifications & Licenses
- ACLS (AHA) certification required.
- BLS (AHA) certification required.
- State nursing license required.
Additional Information
- Mandatory participation in a two-day educational class (6-8 hours each day) focused on Identifying Cardiac Dysrhythmias, with a required passing grade on the assessment.
- Annual completion of an educational module with embedded test questions.
- Holidays: Required to work 2 of the 3 winter holidays (Christmas, New Year’s, or Thanksgiving).
- Limit of 1 day off request between November 26-30 and December 23 – January 2 for all travelers.
