Position Overview
This role involves performing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) on patients using advanced imaging technology and administering contrast materials as needed. The position is crucial for ensuring accurate imaging and patient comfort throughout the examination process.
Responsibilities
- Preparation: Prepare the scan room and the patient for MRI examinations.
- Patient Interaction: Interview and screen patients for contraindications, explain the MRI procedure, and address any patient inquiries.
- Contrast Administration: Draw up and administer IV contrast as required, and provide oral contrast when indicated. Ensure the patient is not allergic to the administered materials.
- Equipment Operation: Perform warm-up procedures on MRI equipment and enter patient data along with appropriate scan parameters. Review patient data and previous exams to ensure the accuracy of the current examination.
- Patient Positioning: Transport patients to the exam room, assist in positioning them correctly for scans, and ensure the use of proper protocols, coils, and restraints during the examination.
- Image Acquisition: Conduct the MRI scan with attention to detail, and be vigilant for the need for additional or thinner slices/images as necessary.
- Image Marking: Ensure proper marking of images regarding patient orientation and maintain the correct order of image entry using the keypad.
- Record Preparation: Prepare and organize records for the radiologist, ensuring all clinical information is complete and that exam images are in the correct order.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in MRI.
- Current ARRT certification.
- Current BLS certification (AHA).
- Experience with Siemens MRI equipment is required.
Work Schedule
This position is scheduled for evening shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, including every weekend.
