Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing the health and abilities of individuals and families. This includes prevention of illness and injury, alleviation of suffering, diagnosis, treatment, and advocacy. The RN ensures compliance with all standards of practice and professional development, adhering to relevant regulations and policies.
Job Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients, serving as a primary or accountable nurse based on unit assignments.
- Educate patients and their families in health promotion and disease management, utilizing available resources.
- Demonstrate knowledge of pharmacology and administer medications safely in accordance with hospital policy.
- Contribute to effective resource utilization, including staffing, time management, supplies, and services.
- Comply with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
- Actively participate in the Nursing Shared Governance Model, supporting improvement initiatives and peer review practices.
- Engage in professional development, continuing nursing education, and meet mandatory education requirements.
- Integrate nursing research and current evidence into practice.
- Create a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.
- Perform Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator duties when assigned.
- Assume additional responsibilities as needed.

Preferred Skills & Experience
- Previous nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting
Education Requirements
- Required: Associate’s degree from an accredited school of Nursing.
- Preferred: Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.
Certifications & Licensure
- Required: Current Registered Nurse License in New York State.
- Required: BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
- Check unit-specific requirements in the Compliance Matrix prior to submission.
- Preferred: Professional certification in a related nursing specialty.
