Position: Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical Unit
Shift: Night 3×12-Hour (18:30 – 07:00)
Job Description:
The Medical Surgical Unit is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for night shifts. This position offers opportunities for 36 or 48-hour workweek options, with any hours exceeding 48 classified as overtime. The RN will provide high-quality patient care in a dynamic environment, managing a patient ratio of 1:6.
Requirements:
- Current BCLS certification required; CPI certification preferred.
- At least 1 year of recent nursing experience in a medical-surgical setting.
- Experience with Epic charting system is required.
- Unit is open to first-time travelers.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize clinical skills to monitor and assess patients effectively.
- Participate in rapid response team activation as necessary.
- Provide care to a diverse patient population including adults and geriatrics.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes, including physical therapy and social services.
Work Schedule:
- 12-hour shifts from 18:30 to 07:00.
- Six weekend shifts required within a six-week period.
- Self-scheduling available for staffing needs.
Unit Details:
- Daily Census: 32 patients.
- Patient Ratio: 1:6 during day and night shifts, including weekends.
- Interdisciplinary Support: Involvement of various services such as respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services.
- Orientation will include training sessions lasting 24 hours.
Location: Lovelace Medical Center, City, State
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in blood product administration, central line blood draw, chest tube management, colostomy care, and wound care.
- Proficient in clinical procedures including IV management, oxygen administration, and post-hemodialysis care.
