Job Summary

The Registered Respiratory Therapist, under the supervision of the Director of Respiratory Services and Shift Supervisors, will deliver comprehensive Respiratory Care Therapy and manage supportive equipment as outlined in the Department Policy and Procedure Manual.

Essential Job Functions

• Administer respiratory therapy under medical direction, focusing on the education, treatment, management, and diagnostic evaluation of patients experiencing cardiopulmonary deficiencies.
• Assist with intubations and manage ventilator set-up and operation.
• Collect necessary information to evaluate patient needs, including disease-specific education, testing, and consultations with other healthcare professionals as appropriate.
• Establish rapport and mutual respect with patients, caregivers, and team members to create an optimal environment for achieving goals.
• Document and deliver education to patients and caregivers based on identified needs in a comprehensible manner.
• Perform additional duties and projects as assigned, adhering to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
• Lift a minimum of 5 lbs., exert pull and push force of at least 5 lbs., and stand for a minimum of 1 hour daily.

Contact

Regular communication with medical personnel and visitors is a requirement of this role.

Schedule and Availability

• Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, with three 12-hour shifts per week.
• Must be flexible with the schedule, including availability every other weekend and holidays as required.
• On-call requirement: Minimum once weekly.

Qualifications

• Experience: 2 years of acute care experience required, with expertise in ventilator management and the ability to perform arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis.
• Skills:
  • Adept at learning quickly and adapting to changing patient needs.
  • Strong accountability for improving patient and caregiver outcomes.
  • Exceptional focus on teamwork and patient care quality.

Education

• Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduated from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
• Preferred: N/A

Certifications and Licensure

• Required Certifications:
  • BLS – AHA.
  • ACLS.
  • PALS.
  • Valid New Jersey Respiratory Care license.
  • Current and valid NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification.
• Preferred Certifications: N/A
