Position Overview
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering exceptional patient care while adhering to nursing standards and best practices. This role emphasizes the promotion of health, prevention of illness, and effective treatment of patients. The RN will serve as an advocate for individuals and families, ensuring compliance with nursing regulations and standards of practice.
Job Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a designated group of patients.
- Educate patients and families regarding health promotion and disease management, utilizing available resources.
- Administer medications safely while demonstrating knowledge of pharmacology.
- Contribute to resource management including staffing, time utilization, and supply management.
- Comply with nursing practice standards and organizational policies.
- Engage in shared governance by participating in improvement initiatives and peer review processes.
- Commit to ongoing professional development and complete all mandatory education requirements.
- Incorporate current evidence and nursing research into practice.
- Support the learning environment for new staff members and nursing students.
- Embrace and uphold organizational values in daily practice.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Schedule Details
The position requires a commitment of 12 shifts over 13 weeks, totaling 36 hours per week, with every other weekend scheduled.
Required Qualifications
- Current New York State Registered Nurse License.
- BLS Certification (from AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
- Six (6) months to three (3) years of nursing experience with a focus on cardiac telemetry.
- Hands-on experience in managing patients with TAVR, Watchman devices, mitral clips, and heart catheterizations.
- Experience in preoperative and postoperative care for open heart patients, cardiac drips, and disease management related to cardiac conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- Professional certification in a nursing specialty.
- Relevant skills certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC).
