Description: Job Summary: The Registered Respiratory Therapist under the supervision of the Director of Respiratory Services, Technical Supervisor, Shift Supervisors, provides and administers all aspects of Respiratory Care Therapy and supportive equipment as stated in the Department Policy and Procedure Manual. Essential Generic Job Functions (List in order of importance): 1. Providing respiratory therapy under medical direction, in the education, treatment, management, & diagnostic evaluation and care of patients in the hospital with deficiencies of the cardiopulmonary system. 2. Performing Intubation assistance as well as Ventilator set-up & management. 3. Gathering all information necessary to properly evaluate the patient s needs, including patient specific disease education as well as testing and consultations with other health care professionals, as appropriate. 4. Developing a rapport and mutual respect with the patient/caregiver, as well as team members, to foster an optimum environment in support of goal achievement. 5. Provides and documents education to patients/caregivers based upon identified needs in an understandable manner. 6. Other duties and/or projects as assigned. 7. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior. 8. Lifts a minimum of 5 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 5 lbs. and stands a minimum of 1 hour a day. BLS-aha, ACLS-aha- RequiredWill be required to float to all areas respiratory care is provided. Must be highly reliable and be available to work all days other than those that were pre-disclosed prior to offer. Must not have alternative jobs that would interfere with HMH schedule being a priority.Skills: Knowledge, Education and Skills Required: 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Graduate of an accredited program in Respiratory Therapy. RequiredMinimum of 1 year experience in Respiratory care, ventilator management, ABG, BiPAP, High Flow and nebulized treatments- Required.AdditionalEducation: Knowledge, Education and Skills Preferred: 1. Required Certification/Licensing: 1. Current and valid New Jersey Respiratory Care license and Registered Respiratory Therapist is required 2.
