The Meadows Psychiatric Center is located in Centre Hall, PA & is 117-bed facility providing care for children, adolescents, adults & older adults. They are also a free st&ing Psych Hospital with all paper charting. RN’s are responsible for admissions, D/C’s, treatment plans & medications. No On-site Security. Hospital staffs to acuity, not patient ratios. The below is intended to describe the general content of the requirements of the performance in this position. Job Summary To provide professional nursing care in a manner consistent with the philosophy & objectives of The Meadows Psychiatric Center & the ANA STANDARDS of Practice for Psychiatric Mental Health Care. The Registered Nurse prescribes, coordinates & delegates nursing care utilizing the nursing process which is integrated into the multi-disciplinary treatment team plan of care. The Registered Nurse is accountable for assigned nursing care activities on a shift basis & is responsible for promoting & enhancing professional nursing practice on the unit. II. Job Specifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, & ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. Staff must demonstrate flexibility for re-assignment to units providing care to varied populations including children, adolescents, adults, older adults, & dually diagnosed patients. A. Education – Graduate of an accredited nursing program. BSN preferred. B. Experience – One-year prior psychiatric experience in mental health nursing preferred. C. Licensure/Certification – Licensure & registration by the Pennsylvania Board of Nurse Examiners as a registered nurse. Current CPR & HWC certifications. D. Knowledge – Must possess knowledge of general & psychiatric nursing processes, therapeutic relationships & processes, age specific growth & development, limit setting, crisis & behavioral management. E. Supervision Received Unit Nurse Managers F. Supervision Exercised – MHT s, LPN s G. Line of Promotion From this position to Nursing Supervisor H. Environmental Conditions – Exposure to psychiatric patients, consumers, & clients who may exhibit violent/aggressive behavior. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases, blood/body fluids & other hazardous waste. General hospital environment. I. Physical Requirements – Ability to communicate verbally & in writing.
