Lovelace UNM Rehabilitation Hospital’s Outpatient Therapy Department is comprised of six interdisciplinary clinic sites throughout the greater Albuquerque and Santa Fe areas. We pride ourselves on our ability to provide 1:1 hour long treatment sessions and offer a variety of specialty services and programs. At Lovelace, you have the opportunity to work with varied diagnoses such as brain injuries, spinal cord injury, stroke rehabilitation, orthopedics, etc. Across all stages of diagnosis and recovery. Physical Therapist Job Responsibilities and Duties:Perform comprehensive evaluations of varied diagnoses to design and establish individualized therapeutic treatment plansProvision of dedicated treatment interventions with revision of treatment program, as appropriateParticipation in therapeutic team framework with utilization and supervision of Physical Therapy AssistantsCollaboration with interdisciplinary teamResponsible for organizing and conducting medically prescribed physical therapy treatment to individuals with developmental, physical, cognitive and/or emotional impairments, disabilities and/or handicaps to assist in reaching optimal function within their physical limitations.Adheres to policies, procedures and regulations to ensure compliance and patient safety.Plan, prepare, or carry out individually designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve, or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain, or prevent physical dysfunction in patients.Perform and document an initial exam, evaluatin data to identify problems and determine a diagnosis prior to intervention.Record prognosis, treatment, response, and progress in patient’s chart or enter information into EMR.Evaluate effects of treatment at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefit.Confer with the patient, medical practitioners, or appropriate others to plan, implement, or assess the intervention program.Administer manual exercises, massage, or traction to help relieve pain, increase patient strength, or decrease or prevent deformity or crippling.Obtain patients’ informed consent to proposed interventions.Test and measure patient’s strength, motor development and function, sensory perception, functional capaciy, or respiratory or circulatory efficiency and record data.Direct, supervise, assess, and communicate with supportive personnel.Review physician’s referral and patient’s medical records to help determine diagnosis and physical therapy treatment required.Provide information to patient about the proposed intervention, its material risks and expected benefits, and reasonable alternatives.Provide educational information about physical therapy or physical therapists, injury prevention, ergonomics, or ways to promote health.Inform patients and refer to appropriate practitioners when diagnosis reveals findings outside physical therapy.Discharge patient from physcical therapy when goals or projected outcomes have been attained and provide for appropriate follow-up care of referrals.Administer treatment involving application of physical agents, using equipment, moist packs, ultraviolet or infrared lamps, or ultrasound machines. Candidate must have:Ability to communicate effectively and finish tasks in a timely manner;Ability to follow oral and written instruction and established proceduresStrong interpersonal skills Required PHYSICAL THERAPIST REHAB BLS AdditionalEducation: Bachelor s of Science Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution required. Master s Degree or Doctorate in Physical Therapy highly preferred. Current licensure or licensure eligible in PT in State of NM required.
