Write reports and maintain proper documentation of information, such as client billing records. Monitor patients’ progress and adjust treatments accordingly. Develop or implement treatment plans for problems such as stuttering, delayed language, swallowing disorders, or inappropriate pitch or harsh voice problems, based on own assessments and recommendations of physicians, psychologists, or social workers. Administer hearing or speech and language evaluations, test, or examinations to patients to collect information on type and degree of impairments, using written or oral tests, or examinations to patients to collect information on type and degree of impairments, using written or oral tests or special instruments. Educate patients and family members about various topics, such as communication techniques or strategies to cope with or to avoid personal misunderstandings. Supervise or collaborate with therpay team. Participate in and write reports for meetings regarding patients’ progress, such as individualized educational planning meetings, in-servcie meetings, or intervention assistance team meetings. Instruct patients in techniques for more effective communication, such as sign language, lip reading, or voice improvement. Develop speech exercise programs to reduce disabilities. Demonstrates the professional responsibilites in the role of speech therapy and appropriately supervises clinical first year therapists and support. Accurately and systematically documents patient care per hospital and department policies, protocols and guidelines. Demonstrates appropriate inerpersonal communication skills, maintains confidentiality, and collaborates in an interdisciplinary team staffing. Participates in the development and acheivement of department goals and programs while adhering to set professional standards.Skills: Position requires fluency in English language to function in job environment appropriately.
